Built at the command of Stephen the Great between 24th May and 14th September 1488, Voronet is today on of the best known Romanian medieval monuments. The fame which it enjoys springs first and foremost from the exquisite coloring of the frescoes which cover the outside walls from top to bottom. Build on a trefoil plan, the tower resting on the nave, Voronet was originally designed along the same lines as the other buildings erected during the same period.
